This is for all the pregnant mamas out there (and those consciously preparing for their pregnancy), who are desiring guidance on how to have the most blissful, nourished, ecstatic pregnancy possible!
As I write this (May, 2009), I am nearly 5 months into my first pregnancy. I have been raw vegan (including bee products) for over 8 years, and my eating style has contained abundant superfoods for the past 4+ of those years. My purpose with this book (which this is a preview/excerpt of) is to share my wisdom from my research + personal experience, and the insights I've had by my inner questioning of a vast number of mass consciousness assumptions about pregnancy and nutrition.
Firstly and most importantly, remember that food and physical nutrients we eat are just one part of what true “nutrition” is. Nutrition is the quality and harmony of everything we choose on a daily basis – our food choices, the cleanliness and aliveness of the air we breathe and the water we drink, how we handle, respond to and communicate our own feelings, the quality and harmony of our relationship with our partner/friends/community, our satisfaction and enthusiasm for our service/work, and our moment-to-moment relationship with nature, our outer world, our inner world, and our innate trust and connection with God/Oneness/our higher self.
Now we can start on the right foot about all this :)
This book will focus on offering new and empowering perspectives about common pregnancy experiences, and practical nutritional advice (per the above definition of nutrition).
Preparing for Pregnancy
Your preparation for your pregnancy in advance will greatly influence your experience, during and long after your pregnancy. This applies to your level of nutrition, any cleansing you've done, the quality and harmony of your relationship with your partner, and most importantly, your desire and commitment to share your life with your new child.
Consider carefully all aspects of your life, take note of what changes you can make NOW that will positively influence your co-creation of your new family, and take action. This is a great time to clean and purify your body with enzymes, herbs and superfoods; clean and purify your life situation by resolving and updating outdated energy investments from your past (to assist in having more of a “blank slate” to create on in this new phase of your life); purify and strengthen your mind and feelings with your personal spiritual practice, nature, meditation and contemplation.
All of the above is important, and it's just as important to remember to be relaxed, allowing and trusting in your preparation. I believe that women rarely “think” in their rational minds that they're totally prepared in every way for their pregnancy... there will always be something you think could be better in some area of your life. Love and nurture any fears that come up (they're always False Evidence Appearing Real, waiting for you to meet them directly and honestly with your love, which automatically transforms them into your faith, courage and confidence), listen to your heart, and follow your heart!
Pre-pregnancy cleansing
If you're enthusiastic about doing pre-pregnancy cleansing with enzymes, herbs and superfoods, go for it! For most people, even changing your eating style to raw vegan or even just eating more superfoods will go a long way in cleansing and strengthening your body; it may be unnecessary to do any “specialized” cleansing program besides this.
Approach your cleansing in the most effective order of steps: change your habits, relax into your new habits, then move into deeper cleansing if you're inspired.
Based on many years of experience I've had with cleansing, eating raw and superfoods, I suggest approaching your cleansing by simply changing your eating style by eating more raw and superfoods, and eliminating meat and dairy, processed foods and some or all cooked foods. This is the best cleanse ever, because it creates lasting habits that will benefit you forever!
A simple starting point is drinking Chocolate Bliss in some amount every day, adding enzymes and probiotics into your Bliss. This is so simple and easy, anyone can do it, and the effects are profound, even at the beginning! Another simple and powerful step is switching all your salt to Sun Fire Salt and adding in a green powder to your daily regime (such as Revitaphi, Pure Synergy or Vitamineral Green). Also, for pregnancy preparation, be sure your B vitamin and DHA levels are high before you conceive; creating your baby will use a lot of these, and it's important for everyone's happiness to have plenty for both of you!
If you choose to do any deeper cleansing, such as liver/gallbladder, heavy metal cleansing, parasite cleansing, or other cleansing that creates a rapid and dramatic change in your inner terrain, be sure the purity and nutrition and healthy habits of your basic eating style has already prepared you for this before you take this extra step.
Understanding & Translating/Transmuting Your E-Motions & Feelings
Also, be aware that your feelings and emotions will become a lot stronger and deeper when you're pregnant. Many women have felt overwhelmed by how strong and “confusing” and “random” their moods and feelings become. This is where understanding the purpose of our feelings is so important, and learning how to use them constructively! ALL feelings exist for very important reasons, and they are here to serve us. Our job is to FEEL and LOVE them fully, all the way to their depths, while taking full responsibility for them (OUR feelings and limiting beliefs are never truly about anyone or anything outside of us... those things just act as convenient triggers to bring them into our awareness!)... at the bottom of our ocean of feeling lies our treasure, our understanding, and their valuable message for us to apply to our lives!
